This vintage edition of the Betty Crocker cookbook is the twenty-first printing of the 1969 copyright General Mills Inc. cookbook. This 1974 printing was produced by Western Publishing Company and published by Golden Press. It is the Red Pie Design Cover hardback loose-leaf 5 ring binder cookbook. Herbs and Spices illustrate the end papers. The 480 pages are filled with hundreds of classic recipes and beautiful photographs. It is a great source of basic cooking and more advanced recipes. The back cover reads: "The cookbook with the difference and that difference is Betty Crocker More than 1600 success-guaranteed recipes for today's homemaker-for her family, for her friends. A brand new cover-to-cover revision that completely updates Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook-a best-seller for more than two decades. All your favorite plus new recips, new full-color photographs, new step-by-step pictures. Here in 'the cookbook with the difference,' are the world's most throughly tested recipes-the happy and proven results of more than three years of intensive developing,checking and rechecking in the Betty Crocker Kitchens and in homes all across the United States." The contents lists: Appetizers, Beverages, Quick Breads, Yeast Breads, Cakes and Frostings, Cookies, Candies, Desserts, Eggs and Cheese, Rice, Pasta and Cereals, Meats, Fish, Poultry, Main Dishes, Pies, Preserves, Relishes and Garnishes, Sauces, Salads, Soups and Stews, Sandwiches, Vegetables, Special Helps and Index. The introduction explains terms, measuring ingredients, ingredients-Hints to Help You and Equipment. Special Helps includes Menus for Every Occasion, Table Service, Guide to a Well-Balanced Diet, Calories Do Count, Cooking Help for High Altitudes, Food Preperation Tips, Heplful Equipment Extras, Emergency Substitutions, Common Fod Equivalents, Equivalent Measures, Facts About Freezing, Outdoor Cooking and Special Food Terms. It is a well cared for used cookbook. There is a couple small chocolate or coffee spots on the inside of the cover. The cover show some wear. I found one loose page-that is a rarity for binder type cookbooks- my personal one has many, many loose pages! I did not find any writing in the book.
