Big 1930s German Scary Krampus Folklore Devil Die Cuts

Vintage German Die Cut Saint Nicholas in Germany and Austria as he made his rounds. This mean fellow would put bad children in his bag and carry them off, while old St. Nick rewarded the good children with toys and treats. This scary die cut is from old unused German store stock. The details: Four different depictions of a cloven hoofed, horned devil, with his tongue hanging way out. All four are attached with tabs, & are joined at the bottom, with the overall dimensions being approximately 12 1/2" x 8 5/8". No maker's mark. Get out your tape measures - this is a large one! The first has Krampus putting a young child into a wicker basket head first. A child in the basket is looking upwards. A bundle of switches is visible. The second shows a kneeling child outside of the basket - Krampus is now holding a bundle of switches. The third has Krampus holding a child in one arm, with a bundle of switches in the other. A child in a sack looks on. The fourth pictures Krampus apparently helping a child out of a wicker basket. A bundle of switches are visible protruding out of the basket. Each of these die cuts have a blond child - and each child is dressed differently. Each die cut also has a chain wrapped around the devil and basket/sack. Colorful bows are tied to the bundles of switches, and trailing ribbons are on the baskets and sack. This will make a unique addition to your vintage German collection! This old die cut reminds us of the many frightful fairy tales that came out of Germany in the past. Not recommended for small children or the faint of heart! Good condition, with no tears and little or no fading to the paper - one center tab (visible in photo) is no longer intact, but all remain attached. Great color! Still has a slight gloss.
