THE BIG BOOK OF BUTTONS ! Yes! Just in time for Christmas , we have for your consideration, the National Button Society's favorite book! My dear friend and fellow button club member has found herself with 2 copies of the BBB and has chosen to keep her mother's older (1981) copy. She has aked me to offer her newer, 1991 version to you! It is in excellent condition with only a few light check marks which she will erase before we send it. Published in 1991 by New Leaf Publishers, it was written by Elizabeth Hughes and Marion Lester. From the introduction: "The text has been written with general regard to the classification guidelines proposed by National Button Society, using the nomenclature which has been developed over the years since the Society was founded in 1938...Those who appreciate fine workmanshop or beauty of design can find buttons in any category to admire." This wonderful button book has over 800 pages of precise information on every kind of button imaginable. T are 326 plates of both color and black and white photos. It is written in three parts, first grouping buttons according to the material of which they are made (with appropriate historical and background data for each group). Secondly, in part two the buttons are classified by subject matter and, part three deals exclusively with uniform buttons and their usage. This definitive reference book is offered with no reserve, at a low starting price and would be absolutely perfect for your favorite button enthusiast and collector.
