The Hocking Glass Company manufactured their line of provision jars during the 1930's. They were made in several sizes ranging from a tiny four ounce size to this largest 64 ounce size. The line of jars is referenced in Kitchen Glassware of the Depression Years by Cathy & Gene Florence. This 64 ounce jar is one that is hard to find when searching for a set. Guaranteed old and original, it measures 7-1/2" tall to the top of the knob and 5-1/2" in diameter. A good cookie jar size. The jar and lid are in excellent condition. The lid is pristine. The base has no chips or cracks -- there a bit of roughness around the rim with three tiny fleabites. Usually these jars have heavy roughness around the rim, but this is in lovely condition. There is a little wear from use -- some light scratches or usage marks that can be seen the in the first blacklight photo. There is also a small amount of table wear on the base. A very nice jar with lots of uses -- flour, sugar, cookies, candy -- ideal in the bathroom for guest soaps, cotton balls ... Brilliant blacklight glow!
