Carved by an up and coming carver, John Allen , of Massachusetts. I revere John Allen as being easily comparable to TIM WEST , or RANDY WILEY . I own 3 of his pipes, and they are unbelievable smoking pipes. They look incredible. Mr. Allen carves a wide variety of shapes, from freehand danish shapes to all the standard shapes. He uses top quality briar, and is a master carver, and very experienced. You can expect his name to be on the map very soon.
I have collected freehand pipes, such as Ben Wade, Preben Holm, Nording, Bjarne, Bari, etc. All the big names, I have smoked. And nothing came close to a John Allen pipe as far as look and appeal, along with briar quality, and of smoke.
I have perfect feedback on ebay, and have been a pipe smoker and collector of freehands for the past 9 years. This pipe will be the best purchase you have ever made, if you are a freehand collector, and enjoy a long, and cool smoke. This pipe will smoke itself, almost literally. Never worry about re-lights, or this pipe getting hot. You have very massive thick walls All natural, beautiful plateau. This pipe has only been smoked 2 times, by me. I carefully smoke my pipes without letting the hot ember touch the walls of the bowl. This pipe did not smoke hot, and the bowl has no cake build-up. You can still see the bare wood in the chamber. Only Dunhill English tobacco has been smoked in this pipe. The stem is made of high quality acrylic, and fits nice and snug into the mortise. A PIPE CLEANER WILL PASS WITH EASE FROM THE STEM INTO THE BOWL. The pipe fits wonderfully in your hand. It has nice curved contours on the sides for grip. Also - the draw hole is drilled perfectly dead and center. Everything about this pipe is perfect.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT THIS PIPE HAS VERY NICE AND TIGHT, STRAIGHT GRAIN.
