Large Hull Jardiniere/Planter BOWKNOT B-19-9 3/8? incised 25 This is one extraordinary and exciting piece of Art Pottery. Came from an equally extraordinary family estate auction held in the Midwest. Owners were avid collectors of art pottery/glass spanning more than 40 years. What I loved most is that they actively used most every piece of their vast collection, rather than have them locked in their china cabinets. They felt these pieces were made to be used, ought be used, and they did. Had them displayed and made use of their functionality. This is one piece from their collection and though is certainly needs to be cleaned, I am selling this piece exactly as purchased at auction. I am faaaar from being an expert on Hull pottery, just thought this piece had a great look, loved its commanding size, and thought it was great that they used it in the solarium as a planter. T are a couple of apologies to be made to the piece which photographed. I truly believe, apologies and all, t are some legitimate attributes to this Hull Jardiniere. T is an old rim chip, and a few stress lines and tight hairlines to the interior and exterior base. But perhaps, using a loupe, t might be some glaze flecks which I have not detected. Approx. Measurements 7 3/4"H by 11"W (handle to handle) Weight 4.0lbs raised marks on bottom USA Hull Art B-19-9 3/8? not sure incised mark 25 again not sure I am hoping someone with greater knowledge than me will recognize this as a great piece of Hull. The pastel colour tones are lovely. Shades of Blue to soft Pinks, and muted Greens to buttery Yellows contrast well with the Ivory/Creme ground. T is natural weathering and crazing . I think the surface "patina" is fantastic. If you are a collector of Hull Art pottery, looking for an exciting piece to spruce up and add cheer to your decor or looking to showcase your prized plant, this Hull Jardiniere would make a spectacular piece.
