This is a big, beautiful old split oak basket that is in great sturdy shape, with a wonderful aged patina and pretty old decorative decals across the handle and at each end, featuring strawberries and strawberry blossoms. T are no breaks in the splints, which are nearly two inches across on the bottom and more than half an inch on the sides. The handle is nearly 1 1/2 inches wide. The basket is 20 inches long, 13 inches wide and 4 inches high at the sides. The handle brings the total height to nearly 9 inches. In one picture, you can see a standard 13"x9" cake pan in it, just to give you an idea. You can see that these splints were hand-split. It is truly a treasure for the collector. In fact, I would never let it go if I didn't have its twin, which I use to display my collection of vintage and antique cookbooks. This is the kind of basket that the Longaberger people probably used as a basis for their popular new baskets. Quality work all the way. Please look at the pictures.
