Offered is a genuine WWII U.S. Military 7-Inch fighting knife manufactured by the Utica Cutlery Company and carrying the Kutmaster trademark. Two variations of this knife are shown on page 113 of M.H. Coles excellent book U.S. Military Knives, Bayonets and Machetes, Book IV, one marked and the other unmarked. This knife has the blade grind of the unmarked knife but has the Kutmaster markings. The knife has seen some use and has some scattered light pitting - very minimal sharpening. The pommel is tight and the leather washer handle is in good shape, tight with no missing or rotted washers. The guard is only very slightly loose. This 7-Inch Kutmaster fighting knife, while not pristine, is a fairly tough knife to acquire and in nice condition. Sorry no sheath included - the original sheaths were light, flimsy and most did not survive. When these knives are found, they're quite often in a more durable, and easy to acquire, Mark 2 leather sheath (with the 7 inch blade like the Mark 2, they fit perfectly). A nice example of a scarce military knife offered for your collection with no reserve and modest opening bid. Check out my other auctions for more U.S. military knives.
