BG 41 - 2nd Printing - OP 2 GRATEFUL DEAD BIG MAMA MAE THORNTON TIM ROSE 12/9/66 - 12/11/66 Fillmore Auditorium This poster is an original, authorized reprint and was printed shortly after the concerts. These December 1966 concerts were produced by Bill Graham at San Francisco's famed Fillmore Auditorium and headlined the wildly popular GRATEFUL DEAD. The artist, Wes Wilson, designed this poster to be colorful and lively. The lettering for which Wes was known, surrounds a face, beautiful in its simplicity, and somewhat reminiscent of the faces Bonnie was later known for. The poster is in excellent condition, with an almost imperceptible bend in the upper left corner. Although the poster is absolutely flat and crisp and bright, time has taken its toll, as the very edges of the poster (1/8") have yellowed somewhat. This poster, and others, were left to me by my brother, who knew a number of musicians involved in the rock scene on the east and west coasts in the 60's and 70's. He was friends with a well-known music producer, and I believe that he gave these posters to my brother. My brother gave me some of the posters in 1970, and I inherited the others in 1985.
