Hummel : #169 "BIRD DUET" Trademark : #2 FULL BEE Age : 60 YEARS OLD (1950) Size : 4 ¼ INCHES Condition : MINT CONDITION – needs cleaning. No Chips, No Fleabites, No Cracks, and No Repairs. (T are NO chips on the bottom edge – in some pictures the cloth fuzz may make it seem that way, but look at the pics of the bottom markings and you’ll see that t are no chips on the base) Markings: The incised mold number 169 and the Size “50”. Also marked “Germany” (instead of the later-used “West Germany”) along with the FULL BEE trademark stamped in blue along with the artist's swish, and a pencil note “Bird Duet”. Originally modeled by Master Sculptor Arthur Moeller in 1945. Only a very few were made in the Crown Mark, TM1 period, so this TM2 marked “German” is an early model. Note that this older model has the birds’ heads cocked at a different angel, the eyes are different, and the angel is holding her baton at a different angel (this mold was “restyled” in 1967). This is a beautiful piece - from Sister Maria Innocentia’s (Berta Hummel’s) design to the craftsmanship involved in producing the model and painting the figurine. Just because we’ve taken a couple of pictures of any one area of a Hummel, don’t assume that t is a flaw t Instead we might well be showing you an area that is the common location for a chip or a break and showing how our piece is not flawed in that area. We NEVER sell “As Is” without fully describing the flaws we can find – was some eBay dealers and sellers will tell you to carefully review the photos and transfer the risk to the buyer. We do not want to sell you a can of worms. In general, if you don’t want the Hummel, we’ll gladly take it back.
