19th Century birds eye maple tea caddy. A super box in very nice condition .The tea Caddy is made of a very bold birds eye maple veneer on pine & Mahogany; it sits on black ebonized wood bun feet. Inlaid on top with an American eagle in a black ebony oval medallion. When I acquired this box it was in fairly rough condition, the surface was very dry & some parts of the eagle inlay were lifted, it was missing the key hole eschution & the feet, so I had this box restored professionally & it is now in magnificent condition, the surface has been French polished & it rich & lustrous! Inside it has two lift top removable tea caddy's & the central bowl is missing as they always are .I felt that it is so rare to find birds eye maple, &I feel really good about restoring it to its former glory! 19th Century Americana saved & preserved for future generations. Striving For Excellence It isn't brilliance or just getting the breaks, It is consistent attention to & honest respect for the Customer.
