How romantic is this? This box is the same style as featured in the movie "The Notebook". It is an extremely beautiful sterling silver box in absolute pristine condition. 1 ¾" x 2" x 1 ¼". The domed lid comes together from 4 angles and is set into the base which has three tiered 'steps'. Good hinge that runs the length of the box - the lid sits dead-straight on the box base. Original black velvet single slot ring pad WITH TWO SLOTS - one for an engagement ring, the other for the wedding band. The velvet is surrounded by ribbed white satin. Both the velvet and the satin show wear - the satin has a bit of silver polish dust on it that may or may not clean up with warm water and a Q-Tip. The black velvet shows a bit of wear around the ring slots - no rips or tears, just a bit of 'tamping' around the slots. The lid liner is an ivory/white color and has no retail mark - it is just nice and plain. No snags or 'issues'. T is a lovely old stylized monogram "K" or "R" on the lid (I think it is an "R"). Leattte bottom tabletop protector. Hallmarked on the box side for Roden (now Birks) and sterling silver. Birks acquired Roden in 1958. I believe from the style of this box (which is very similar to Birks own 1942 style box) that this Roden box is pre-1942. The box is in extremely good condition - t are two tiny pinheads on the lid - I think you can see one of them in my photo. A bit of light surface scratching on the box sides but no other dings, pings, dents or marks of any kind. This is a fabulous box - the ultimate presentation box for that upcoming engagement - especially if you include a DVD of the movie The Notebook with your ring.
