Up for auction is a used leather Cairns N5A size large (has impact shell)with options (see below). Helmet was recently refurbished by me. A friend bought this helmet new around 1994 and it was originally black. He became an officer and it was painted white. He then moved away and joined a new department that required his helmet to be yellow. So, it was painted yellow (see pictures). I bought this helmet from my friend who decided he needed a new leather helmet. This helmet has seen some fire in its day and it has some battle scars. Helmet has slight dimpling and dents. Helmet definitely shows character. When I bought this helmet it was in need of a restoration. Helmet was stripped of its 3 coats of paint plus its primer using no chemicals (see pictures). Helmet was cleaned and prepped for primer. Helmet was primered, sanded and then given a second coat of factory primer. Helmet was then painted using factory Sherwin Williams black paint with an air painter. A total of 3 coats were applied. I am in no way a professional "bodyman" or painter. Helmet has some minor particles in paint (no paint booth) and one or two minor (barely noticeable) runs in the paint and the "battle scars" mentioned earlier. On the inside of the helmet on the impact cap, underneath the helmet liner, t is spray paint overspray from a previous paint job. This in no way affects the use of this helmet. I still think the helmet looks as good as a new one. Helmet liner is brand new; just installed. Helmet hanger is original as is the helmet chinstrap. The bourkees are used (see below) but not totally destroyed. The front holder is brand new (see options below) as are the tetrahedrons (see options below). Auction does not include a front. Winner's Options Winner of this auction can choose between the original style Maltese Cross front holder or the new style - silk screened black eagle (see picture). Also, winner has the choice of lime, orange or black/silver flame tetrahedrons included in the winning bid. You will get 8 of the same color applied by me. (see picture) Optional at Additional Cost: If the winner is interested, s/he can purchase from me at an additional cost of $40.00, a new pair of bourke eyeshields installed (in place of used ones). Buyer may also opt to purchase from me at an additional cost of $15.00 a Milwaukee Chinstrap. Purchasing these items would make the helmet completely new with the exception of the leather helmet material, bump cap and the helmet hanger. THE NEW BOURKE EYESHIELDS AND/OR THE NEW MILWAUKEE STRAP ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE FINAL EBAY AUCTION ENDING PRICE NOR ARE THEY REQUIRED TO BE PURCHASED (just trying to give the buyer more options). The winning bidder has the option at the end of the auction to purchase these additional items by contacting me via email.
