This wonderful carving is from my private Black Forest collection. Time to pair down and I am also running out of room. This wonderful carving is of a side profile of a fox head. Extremely detailed, and condition is excellent except for one broken part on the bow on top of the plaque,which does not distract from the piece. Please look at all pictures! Manufacturer/Artist/Author Unknown Dimensions 23"H x 14"W overall, the fox head is 7"H x 9"L x 2 1/2"D. It weighs 6 1/2 lbs Inscription None History/Provenance I have only had this carving for 5 years. It was bought from a private party. Copy of appraisal dated August 18, 2005 Appraisal ID: 9089 Appraised On: August 18, 2005 Replacement Value: $ 1,750.00 Appraiser Comments: This is an interesting Black Forest hunting plaque with a reeded base in shield form. The centerpiece is a fox head carved in profile in high relief. More interesting is the way it is “framed” by surrounding antlers, ribboned leaves, and acorns. Based on comparative data for other hunting plaques recently sold, and considering the similarities and differences for the condition, size, artistic merit, and age, we have valued the subject carving as indicated Up for auction are many pieces from my own collection along with other Tracthen and lodge style items. Great for that lodge, cabin or Adirondack style decorating.
