Black Forest Game Plaque Wall Hanging
I have owned this piece for over twenty years and purchased it from an antique dealer in Dallas, TX. It is a large and heavy hand carved piece depicting the results of a hunt with hunting gear. The carving is very impressive and extremely fine and intricate. This piece hangs from a wall and measures approx. 40" tall, approx. 24" across and approx. 6" deep at its thickest point. The back of the piece has an unrecognizable character followed by "2175" which appears to be hand written in ink or paint. I am not an antique dealer nor am I an expert on pieces like this, but based upon reviewing some similar items on eBay, I think this is a Black Forest wood carving. A narrow piece of the right edge of the piece was broken off and has been repaired unprofessionally, as have some breaks on the stag's head - ears and antlers. T are also two areas on each side of the piece w some floral pieces have broken off - I have one of the pieces that has broken off but not the others. I have provided close up pictures of these areas. Feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer them. I would also be happy to provide additional specific pictures at your request.
