Up for auction is a beautifully carved Black Forest Style Wooden Bear . This carving was hand-carved on September 9, 1934 by G Ugland in Vashon, Washington. Vashon is a small island near Seattle. It is marked on the bottom and signed by the carver. Ugland was of Norwegian/Swiss descent . The Main figure stands 16" inches high. The base is 11"long by 6" wide. This piece has multiple figures that demonstrate the carver's talent. In excellent condition for its age. The right ear of the lamb and hind leg have have been repaired .The repairs were excellent and probably done by the carver himself. I have included pictures that try to show these. They are not very obvious and hard to see when viewing the entire piece. This piece has a wonderful finish as can be seen in some of the photos. This would be a fabulous addition to someone's collection. It is a wonderful example of an American piece made during the WPA era and Arts and Crafts style. Please email any questions and I will try to answer to the best of my ability. Thanks for looking.
