is a wonderful handled black transfer, on white, vegetable tray with a marvelous HUDSON RIVER view. It was made by William Ridgway, c. 1835 and has a transfer back stamp with the WR initials and the name of the scene, a "View from Ruggles House, Newburgh, Hudson River." The egdes and handle of this piece are beautifully embossed. The tray is PERFECT save a couple of small back chips, the worst of which is shown in the last photo. These are not visible from the front. The tray measures 10.75", handle to handle and 9.5" across the other way. T is NO RESERVE on this unusual Staffordshire piece. T is NO toning on this piece. What you see in the first photo is simply shadow, not variation in the glaze or pottery.
