Blackbird on a Windowsill Signed Limited Edition Print of a Bird Painting by British Wildlife Artist Steve Greaves Worldwide edition strictly limited t o only 500 signed numbered prints This auction is for print number: 188 Individually signed and numbered by the artist - 100% guaranteed original signature This is a full colour finely detailed high quality lithographic art print on heavy paper Printed by Haven Colourprint - a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild Ready for mounting, framing and display Image size 10 3/4" x 13 7/8" (237 x 354mm) Size including border 13 1/2" x 17 1/4" (340 x 440mm) A male Blackbird ( Turdus merula ) sits on an old weathered wooden windowsill. The bird had been found injured by a car and was taken to the artist to look after. It was posed by the window in the corner of the wood panelled studio where the artist lived and worked in Carmarthen, South Wales in the 1980's. The painting is painted in gouache (opaque watercolour) using no white paint; the light areas are the white CS10 illustration board showing through. In places the artist's fingerprints can be seen where he has dabbed the damp paint to create textures.
