Antique primitive flour or sugar sifter stenciled with "Blood's Pat. Sept. 17, 1861" on one side and the original paper label on the other which reads "Blood's Improved Sifter Patented September 17, 1861-Sifts Flour, Meal, Squash, Apple, Pulverized Sugar, Whiting, Drugs, & c., with great rapidity and ease. It is the only successful sifter for general FAMILY USE. Ever? offered to Housekeepers. It has won its way to public favor solely by its own merits. It is easily adjusted to any Pan, Box, Firkin or Barrel, or may be used upon a molding board, and is operated without putting the hands into the material. DIRECTIONS-Fill to the central rod and sift with a short quick stroke. Remove the central rod for cleaning. Manufactured Solely by Dover Stamping Company, 88 & 90 North Street, Boston, MASS", which are also well known for their egg beaters. This wonderful primitive was patented by A.E. and J. B. Blood, from Lynn, MA. Two different patent dates were issued, this being the earliest one. Has two wooden roller blades, wire screen bottom, and bootjack type ends. The condition to me is just wonderful showing age but in good condition. Stands approximately 8 3/4 inches tall and 10 1/2 wide. Would make a great addition to any old antique primitive kitchen collection. Please email with any questions prior to bidding. Thank you for viewing
