A BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE OIL PAINTING BLOOMSBURY SCHOOL A CHARMING INTERIOR EARLIER 20TH CENTURY BY Major GEORGE A. CATTLEY 1896-1978 NO RESERVE SALE!! Title- Bloomsbury School Interior Date- Earlier 20th century Provenance- From a private Estate in Oxfordshire Description- A highly decorative, earlier 20th Century oil painting on artists card of a lady sat in her parlour reading a book. Cattley usually painted dogs and horses however his Bloomsbury portraits are much rarer and often depicted members of his family. This is one of a pair of paintings we are offering this week on Ebay and show his skill as an interior scene painter well. Confident use of color and expert paint application combine to create an atmospheric work. Condition- The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in generally very good condition for its age. There is a small patch of thin paint to the dress and hair and a little dirty varnish above the book. The painting is housed in a later gold frame.
