This is a blue and white stoneware spongeware pitcher. Has a fancy handle, solid blue stripe around the top and bottom. It also has a slightly ridged band around the top, I'm told that makes it a little more rare. 6 3/4 inches tall, 5 inches across the bottom, 4 3/4 across the top, 5 1/5 inches across top including the spout. Very little crazing in the glaze, it shows little to no wear on the bottom, no cracks. It does have two tiny chips that are shown in photos, one is on the bottom of the handle, the other is on the bottom. This was my great-grandmother's, I don't know how old it is but I do know she brought it with her to Maine from New Hampshire in 1915. She wasn't much of a housekeeper apparently and I don't think she ever used it. I know my Grandmother didn't use it at all, she left it in the cupboard and my Mother hates blue and put it away in the cupboard too. It is in almost pristine condition, aside from the two tiny chips.
