This pontiled soda would make a great addition to any bottle hound's collection! The bottle is labeled M. McCormack - This Bottle is Never Sold. The color is more of a Cornflower or Sapphire blue instead of Cobalt Blue. I haven't tried to clean the inside of this bottle (I'm not sure how blue glass from the 1850's would react to my usual bottle cleaning methods). This is some interesting evidence of an alteration of the bottle mold on this bottle. The 'M' just before the word 'McCormack' shows evidence that it once was an 'N'. I have read that the mold for the earlier examples of these bottles was originally cut incorrectly (the 'M' stood for the name 'Malachi') with an 'N' instead of an 'M'. Molds were very expensive at the time, so the decision to re-cut the mold was made!I believe the photos show the condition pretty well.I usually can't ship on a Saturday, so bids won on a Friday will be shipped the following Monday pending payment.!
