This is an extraordinary specimen from
the Genipapo Mine, Itinga,
Minas Gerais, Brazil.
This remarkable quartz crystal formation
is spiked throughout with
blue indicolite tourmaline crystals
causing the host crystal to appear as blue quartz.
This blue quartz specimen is
formed of two separate crystalline segments, each with it's own distint personality.
The upright crystal is a unique tabular shape that is formed in two parts. At first glance this looks like single crystal that totally self healed across a horizontal break. But closer examination reveals partial facets
on the lower right of the upper section and
the upper left of the lower portion. The second crystalline segment juts out
at an angle from the upright crystal. This crystal segment is double terminated and also a tabby in dimensions. T are creamy albite accents
wedged in the bottom of the piece
empathy scars on the surfaces.
Indicolite is said to assist one in relating to others in a loving way.
It is also said to facilitate access
to higher levels of intuition,
acting as a vehicle for
visions and contact with higher realms.
This astounding crystal specimen
weighs 197 grams and is
2 3/4” tall by 4” across. The upright segment is 2 3/4" high,
2" across and 5/8" thick.
The lower segment is 4" across,
1 1/4" wide and 1/2" thick.
