Up for auction is a Scarce, Hard to Find, Clinchfield Artware Pottery, also known as Cash Family Pottery of Erwin, Tennessee (1945 to 1988), Hand Painted "Sculptured Fruit" Pitcher / Jug in Mint Condition from after 1959. This beautiful Cash Family Pottery pitcher was made from a mold that originally belonged to the Southern Potteries, Incorporated of Erwin Tennessee manufacturers of the famous and renowned "Blue Ridge China" line of hand painted dinnerware and accessories. In 1959 the Southern Potteries-Blue Ridge company closed their doors for good and liquidated their remaining stock, molds and equipment. Ray and Pauline Cash, owners and operators of the Clinchfield Artware Pottery were able to purchase some of the old Blue Ridge molds and continued to make some of the popular shapes for many years to come. Often times the Blue Ridge dinnerware and Cash Family wares are hard to tell apart until you see the mark on the bottom. This is the case with this awsome jug and chances are that a former decorator-painter from the Blue Ridge pottery also painted this fine Cash Family example. This simple style of beautiful hand painted semi-porcelain wares on generally white or cream colored backgrounds has become a heritage and tradition in the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the town of Erwin, Tennessee.
