Original Japanese Woodblock Uta-e (poem pictures) A Fantastic Collection of Uta-e; Tonight we are excited to offer this beautiful collection of uta-e, Japanese poem pictures, from the late Meiji era (early 20th century). This beautiful selection of wood block prints was designed by a number of leading artists in the early 20th century as a collaborative series. They set out to produce an exceptionally high quality series of prints of various scenes from Japanese poetry that included famous stories, quintessentially Japanese imagery, nature scenes, famous sites, etc. The prints were produced to the highest standards. The level of detail, application of color, and fine designs are absolutely breathtaking. Look through this lovely collection and you will be transported back in time to Japan in the era of traditional architecture, Japanese objects, and natural beauty. The designs are captivating, and lyrical, and capture the sense of the poetry that they illustrate. Some of the prints include elements of softly shimmering mica and hand applied white pigment -- vivid and eye-catching. These are woodblocks scenes that one can truly get lost in. The outstanding feature is their intense level of design- simply breathtaking. These fine designs are especially well suited to add an overtly Japanese flavor to a room. They will be captivating design elements that you surely will not see elsew The dealer through whom we purchased this fantastic collection noted that these prints are regularly sold in fine Kyoto woodblock shops in excess of $100 each. At our $70 opening bid price, as always, Fuji Arts brings you delightful, high quality wood block prints at a price that just cannot be beaten! Bid now! The Presentation- The prints are "tipped onto" a piece of album paper with a very narrow application of paste at the upper edge, edge only, reverse. The title of the subject is written in Japanese and roman characters in pencil on that folio paper below. The edge you see around the print is this paper. The prints could be framed with the folio paper by simply leaving it hidden behind to matt. Or, they could be easily removed from the backing paper by separating the thin paste edge- your choice. That was the intention of this presentation. See the photo illustration example below. Image size- 18 1/2" x 9 1/2"
