Authentic Signed Shipwreck Pottery Auction A wonderful opportunity to own a great piece of ancient history, in a radiant cobalt blue dragon-motif plate. Circa 15th century, this piece was made approximately 300 years before the Europeans could produce fine porcelain. It was most likely made in the Thailand of old by established Chinese Potters who had settled t during the Mongol invasion, and subsequent Yuan Dynasty. They traded these wares to Java, Burma, India, Persia and Africa. The holds of the ships were filled at the start of the dangerous voyage, and as they they were traded away, other items took their place for the voyage home. This item was purchased in Hawaii from the original finders of the treasure ships in 1985, and not from the quasi archaeologists that stole the wrecks from the fishermen who legitimately found them in international waters. This plate was hand etched with a sign or name by the dragon on the face of the plate (see picture#5). Diameter 5-7/8", signed on reverse.
