Jackson was the rare athlete who played not only in Major League Baseball but also for the NFL, playing for the Oakland Raiders at the same time. He was a 1989 All Star and MVP of the game. In his football career, he was the 1985 Heisman Trophy award winner at Auburn University and a 1990 Pro Bowl selection.
