(Robert James Fitzsimmons) ("Ruby Robert" ; "Speckled Bob") BORN May 26 1863; Helston, Cornwall, England (Some sources report 1862) DIED October 22 1917; Chicago, Illinois (pneumonia) HEIGHT 5-11 3/4 WEIGHT 150-175 lbs MANAGERS Charles Glori, Martin Julian Fitzsimmons is rated among the greatest fighters who ever lived and one of the hardest hitters; He held three world championships during his career - Middleweight, Heavyweight and Light HeavyweightSome sources, including Fitzsimmons himself, claimed he had over 350 fights, but this may be an an exaggeration; In the ring, Fitzsimmons moved quickly and hit hard from all angles; He took on much larger men without hesitation Nat Fleischer ranked Fitzsimmons as the #3 All-Time Heavyweight; Charley Rose ranked him as the #1 All-Time Light Heavyweight; Fitzsimmons was inducted into the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1954 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990 this information is from Cyber Boxing Zone w you can view some excellent clips! These Dixie Queen, Plug Cut Smoking Tobacco cards are very rare. Very Good. Light dirt and yellowing shows wear (two creases bottom left & right) card is nicer than I make it sound.Ratings are by Joel Vermeer, longtime sports card collector and former shop owner. Joel is noted for his tough, but fair card ratings.
