Lesser Prairie Chickens, Pair , was produced by the Boehm Porcelain Studios in Trenton, NJ, and released in 1962. The model was discontinued in 1974. Limited Edition of 300 Pair. The birds are presented on individual bases. The male is in courting position with cheeks puffed, feathers fluffed and ruffled, and appears to have the standing female's attention. The Lesser Prairie Chickens were considered a threatened species at the time Edward Marshall Boehm sculpted the pair. In 1995 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was petitioned to place the birds on the endangered list. As published March 4, 2013, in Field Notes on the Field & Stream website "The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has delayed a decision on the endangered species status of the lesser prairie chicken, and reopened the public comment period on the proposed listing for the threatened prairie grouse, which at one time was one of the most populous gamebirds on the southern plains, but now hangs on in just a few areas."
