This model has been in the hangar for a long time awaiting restoration. Since my skills aren't up to the task, I decided to pass it along to someone who can do it, or you can just leave it alone as it is. I believe the model was made in Italy, but I'm not sure about that or what the model maker's name was. It has the original unmodified turbojet engines, so that places it in the very early sixties. It is a 707-220 which Braniff ordered with higher powered engines. The engines were upgraded beginning in 1961 to more efficient, cleaner turbofan engines. The model originally carried Braniff's Eldorado livery of the early 1960's. Braniff is my personal favorite airline, and from the '60s onward their liveries were always eye-catching and innovative. Total length of the model is 10.25 in., and wingspan is 9.75 in.. That makes it 1/170 scale - an odd scale. This model is missing its stand. Many years ago I attempted to refinish this model. I did a good job reattaching the broken engine #1 with metal epoxy. (I tried to get a close up picture of it but my camera refused) But my painting and detailing skills were not nearly up to the task. It had a lot of wear to the paint and decals. The tail antenna was broken off, as is common on older 707s. And there are some dings on the corners of the wings and tail surfaces. Otherwise it is in good read more
