Of regal scarlet, the deep red crystals were exquisitely faceted into three main shapes ~ oval, rose, and emerald cut and skillfully positioned within their alternating open and closed back settings in bezel channels and prong claws. The set is old Bohemia and hand crafted north of Prague, Czechoslovakia in the early 1920's. One of the finest examples of costume jewelry of the period presents itself in PARURE...which includes the bracelet, earrings and pendant with chain. Bracelet - 7" in length and 7/8" in width at widest vertical measure of each link and depth 3/8". It features 6 links, each containing two distinct tiered levels of arched repousse in leaf and scroll patterns. Each section is enhanced with 4 small and 2 medium red crystals surrounding the 1/4" oval one in bezel open backed setting. Closure is assured with the slip in clasp which locks snuggly in place. Both edges of clasp are numbered/hallmarked with "No. 75" denoting this bracelet as one of a limited creation of its period. Metal composition is brass with gold overlay. Earrings - Measure 1" vertically from top of loop to bottom edge. Horizontal measure is a tad over 5/8" and setting depth is 1/4" . They feature their oval table cut gem set with squarish prongs surrounded by two tiered levels of graduated sized red crystals. Center gem in ringed back and stepped down open back setting. Outer edges are also open backed, ringed and individually set. Earrings attach via their wire loop which is secured closure with hinged over lapping receiver. Composed of brass with gold overlay. Pendant - Most unique and dazzling, it measures 1 3/8" vertically, 5/8" horizontally and is 3/8" in depth. The setting is double ringed in octagon shape (note detail in photo) and open backed. Delicate filigree detail enhances each mitered corner and solders to the diamond shaped gem setting. The large square emerald cut red crystal possesses extraordinary facets and secured with four squared prongs. At top of pendent and swivel hinge attaches the crown of filigree and two faux pearls. Detail exquisite! Original 22" chain attaches at two points and is hallmarked on clasp loop "Czechoslovakia". Pendant is 9K and chain of brass with gold overlay. The red Bohemian crystal originated in the northern region of Bohemia and had been used for centuries in jewelry and water and wine goblets. The iron oxide of the native soil was most unique in this part of Europe and allowed the creation of the creme de la creme in red lead crystal ... also referred to as RUBY GLASS . Entire set if in pristine original condition with no replaced crystals. A very rare and elegant find priced far below market value. From the heart of old world Europe and merely a post away!
From Prague with love! Seller charges a flat fee of $5.00 for airmail, certified and insured postage and handling to all points. Final sale is void of all taxes.
