This beautiful jardiniere is one which will make you smile every time you look at it. The unusual shape is very pleasing to the eye, somehow sensual. I have not seen a piece quite like it; an extraordinary find. One must wonder at the artist's intentions when viewing the decoration. There are two crabs, one on either side, and some exotic flora, mushroom type growths, coral or underwater plants found on both sides as well. The colors are bold and earthy. The inside glaze is a warm turquoise, somewhat tropical in hue making a very sharp contrast and compliment to the exterior decoration. This piece certainly shows it's age with quite a few small repairs and one rather large one. Someone loved this piece very much and did a fair but by no means perfect repair. I offer it "as is" and if you're not a perfectionist you won't mind. Viewed from any angle it is more than inviting to look at. You will be able to say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" when someone has the poor manners to point out the jardiniere's flaws. Dimension you say? 14" long x 9" wide at the outermost points. The inner lip length is 11' and the width is 6 1/4". The height is just under 6". Largish making it perfect for a focal point in a room. You may want to use it as a plant pot but I think it best left empty so you may enjoy the interior too. Your choice. I feel the condition of the piece is secondary to it's overall desirability. The feel of this jardiniere is wonderful. This could be the beginning of an excellent collection or the unusual piece needed to enhance an already existing one.
