Up for auction is a rare French Victorian 1900's Bontems singing Bird cage. It is 23" high which is a lot larger in comparison to the smaller French & German singing Bird cages you normally see. This Bird cage does not become available often and just a rare coincidence when they do. These singing Bird cages are only climbing in value by leaps & bounds because of their fascination & popularity. It is getting hard to find one in working condition for under $4,000.00 to $5,000.00 (see image # 49 of Swiss auction catalogue). T is a large side winding key which winds up the mechanism. Not a bottom wind like you see on the average 12" Bird cages.

The Bird is clothed from real feathers & he flaps his tail & turns his head and opens his beak while singing. Very animated & very realistic performance The mechanics appear to be in excellent condition. The bellows are completely restored and the Bird has new feathers. The cage is very nice with twisted brass wire & gilt relief around the sides. This awesome Bird cage is a must have if you've never owned a large one before! Or even if you have! I do have a moderate reserve to cover my initial investment made today. Come back when you are ready to bid.
