Description: OUT OF PRINT book "The Locomotive: its esthetics " by Raymond Loewy; Trefoil Publications (Universe Books, New York), London; ISBN 0-86294-095-8, 1987; reprint of 1937 ed.; 7 1/2"w x 9 7/8"h hardbound book in tan embossed faux buckram, three-color jacket, unpaginated. An approximately 100 page book consisting of 125 halftone photographs and other illustrations captioned by pioneering industrial designer Raymond Loewy to illuminate his conception of locomotive streamlining . Along with Norman Bel Geddes' "Horizons," this is one of the seminal documents of the streamline movement of the 1930s . Condition: book FINE/VERY GOOD + jacket. Flaws: jacket has light rubbing and light edge/corner wear with some creasing especially toward bottom of back cover and at top and bottom of spine edges; t is a light bump to top of spine and very light shelfwear to bottom of book - else very, very clean and crisp.
