Auction Description Seven colors polychrome painted Olde English Coach and Horses is another exceptional works from the famous Kronheimer and Oldenbusch artists. It is my pleasure, once again, to offer this seldom seen K & O Metal Novelties Co. bookend treasure. The KRONHEIMER & OLDENBUSCH or K & O Company of Brooklyn, New York was in business from 1912 until 1943 and produced some of the most colorful and imaginative bookends from grey metal and bronze. This particular set is by far one of the liveliest colored sets you will see in todayâe(tm)s bookend market. Most polychrome bookends you find in todayâe(tm)s market place and online community are very drab colored and contain little of the original brightness when produced years ago. Not this pair, these remain in wonderful original condition with shades of bright red, blue, white, black, coral, bronze, and gold. Made in 1930 this set is not only one of the finest, but also one of the rarer and lesser seen sets. In my 39 plus years of collecting and selling I have owned this pair but twice, and these are in the best condition. K & O artists used some of the best permanent oil paints that have shown to hold up over 75 years of use.
