This is a vintage print of C. Bosseron Chambers' work entitled "Christ at Five." Chambers lived from 1882 or 1883 to 1941. (Birth dates differ). The framed print is 8 1/2-inches high by 7 1/4-inches wide. The image itself (not including title or credits) is 5 3/8-inches high by 3 3/4-inches wide. It is matted and under glass in a narrow gold wooden frame. The picture is of a five-year-old Christ, halo around his head, looking Heavenward. At the feet of the young carpenter are discarded pieces of wood and a simple cross, a nail protruding from the center. T is pink on his robe, and his cheeks are rosy. It is a compelling piece of work. On the lower left of the print is "@ E.G. Co. Inc." On the upper right, just above the print itself, is "Painted by C. Bosseron Chambers." On the upper left, just above the print itself, is "@ Published by Edward Gross Co. Inc., N.Y." The print, mat and frame are in good condition. The back is papered over. The previous owner used a string and two yellow thumbtacks for hanging. On the paper is stamped "Frame # 580." I don't know the age of the print, only that it is old. In reading about Chambers in several on-line articles, I could not find "Christ at Five" mentioned, and don't know when Chambers painted the piece. I did not have time for more extensive research. NOTE: The mat is more off white/manila read more
