APROX, 10" L., TORPEDO SHAPED BOTTLE that was machine made but definitely in the early 20th century. Bottles were made this way (in the torpedo forn) so they could NOT be stored and shipped standing up. They originally filled with carbonated beverages. When the corks on these bottles dried up, the coronation would put pressure on them and they would shoot out rendering the contents useless. To keep the corks wet the torpedo form (rounded bottom) would make it necessary to store the bottle on it side. This would keep the corks wet therefore they wouldn't shrink and shoot out. It looks like the ship carrying this bottle didn't make it and of course barnicals formed by it laying on the ocean floor. THIS BOTTLE HAS NO CRACKS, CHIPS OR FLAKES AND DISPLAYS NICELY!!!
