This doll is so beautiful, she is a Marie Antoinette Doll. She looks like a antique boudoir doll. I acquired her at a antique doll show in Southern California. The lady selling her told me she belonged to her mother and that she was purchased at the prestigious antique doll auction Theriaults (see the Theriaults hang tag still attached to her wrist). Those of you familiar with antique dolls know that Theriaults only sells the finest and rarest of antique dolls and the prices they bring are out of most doll collectors price range. This being said, I think this is a very rare and special doll. You can see how old she is as her clothes are fraying from age and the way her fingers are sewn is like the antique French Fashion Dolls. The head and shoulderpate are made of a hard material and the rest of her body is cloth. I did a little bit of research and their were dolls that were made especially for royalty called court dolls. This doll may have been a special one of a kind doll, she even has a ship in her hair depicting Marie Antoinettes outrageous bouffant hair styles. She is quite the mystery doll and I would love any additional information from other doll collectors out there that may know her true idenity, and will update the listing. She measure 23 inches tall. She can be displayed on a bed or in a doll stand standing up. She is in good condition and is very old, just her clothes are fragile and showing their age. If you are a collector of the antique cloth dolls or Boudoir Bed dolls, this one is a really special one. She could be a real find for that antique doll collector, as I have never seen another like her. She is from a non smoking home.
