Offered for sale is a bound volume of THE NEW YORK TIMES newspapers published from January 1 through January 15, 1953. In this volume, The Maldive Islands in the Indian Ocean becomes the world's newest republic. The "King of Hillbillies" singer Hank Williams dies in the back seat of his automobile on his way to a show in Ohio. Another coelacanth is caught off the west coast of Madagascar. Until one was caught in 1938, it was believed to had been extinct for 75 million years. There are several articles concerning Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and their fight to stay alive after being convicted of spying. They will be eventually executed in June of this year. There are a couple of articles on the new Andrea Doria , which is starting her maiden voyage to New York. There is a large photograph showing President-Elect Eisenhower and his choices for his Cabinet and key advisers.All of the pages are present with no writing or tears. There is an article missing in the January 6 issue on page 21/22. The area is approximately 2 1/2" x 5" in size and is located in the lower corner of the page.
