Not quite sure how to describe this instrument but words like "Solid ,Large Interesting and Agricultural" spring to mind! The label in the sound hole says Hand Crafted in Newmains Scotland D McLaughlin 06/07 Pictures show it next to a 3/4 guitar and a tenor guitar. This is for scale; they are not part of the auction! The instrument looks to be made from all solid woods and I would describe the workmanship as good but not outstanding. For instance, the neck has been set up during manufacture with a 1mm shim and to me the decoration on the instrument is overdone and a little crude (sorry Mr McLaughlin). I am however very fussy about my instruments! That said, it sounds great! And it is louder than 2 banjos and a melodeon accompanied by Arnold Schwarzenegger on bodhran! No damage or cracks. No fret wear. Neck is straight and action is correct. It does however need new strings, but the buyer will probably want to choose the gauge to suit whatever tuning they decide to use. It has been converted to being left handed simply by reversing the bridge and the nut and will easily change back. It comes with an equally agricultural lined wooden case which is strong and rather heavy. Returns accepted ( my wife now asking if I really want to part with it...)
