Johnny Bower & Ted Lindsay Signed First Day Issue Envelope Framed This auction is for a 2004 first day issue envelope from Canada Post of Johnny Bower and Ted Lindsay. Both Johnny and Ted have personally signed the envelope with a blue fine tipped marker. The envelope comes in a 15x19 inch matted frame and also in the frame are the uncut stamps that this envelope commemorates. Also in the frame is a Hockey Hall of Fame pin and and NHL pin as well as a metallic title plate in the center. The plate says "NHL ALL-STARS COMMEMORATIVE STAMPS SET Autographed by Johnny Bower & Ted Lindsay". The date of issue was January 24, 2004. The entire frame is in excellent shape.Please see large photo at bottom of page for more detail.First day issue (often called day of issue by Canada Post) is the first day a special commemorative stamp goes on sale and usually a matching envelope with these special stamps is also released on that day. If the stamps are cancelled on the special envelope, these are called "first day cover".Johnny Bower was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1976. In 1998, he was ranked number 87 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players. In January 2004, Bower was featured on a postage stamp. As part of the NHL All-Stars Collection, Bower was immortalized along with five other All-Stars.Robert Blake Theodore "Ted" Lindsay is a former professional ice hockey forward who played for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks. During his playing career, he helped to organize the National Hockey League Players' Association. He scored over 800 points in his career, won the Art Ross Trophy in 1950, and was a Stanley Cup champion four times.
