Boxed 1974 Odyssey 1TL200BK12 Game System Magnavox Pong What a find this is. A Magnavox Odyssey Game system that is still in the original box with both foam storage containers to store the games in. It was manufactured in 1974. The game has both controllers, the base, 6 game cartridges, 15 small screen overlays, 16 large screen overlays, several different playing cards for the various games, poker chips, dice, Odyssey cash, clear tape to attach the overlays to the television. It has both cords to hook up the controllers to the system as well as the cord to attach the system to the rf converter. The overlays are in great condition and don't have any tears or creases on them. They were stored folded over from the factory and have a few brown paper separators between the sheets. Some of the games use the same cartridges, so that is why t are more overlays than cartridges. The system uses 6 "C" cell batteries. T were 6 batteries in the box that I pictured in the first photo, but will not be included unless specified. They are not original to the game. A 120 volt power cord can be used to power the unit if you want to play the games and not use batteries. The large size games for a 25" tv are Roulette, Football, Roulette, Cat and Mouse, Submarine, Hockey, Tennis, Football, Ski, Haunted House, Anologic, States, and Simon Says. The smaller overlays for a 19" tv include Roulette, Football, Submarine, Haunted House, Anologic, States, Tennis, Simon Says, Ski, Hockey, and Cat and Mouse. Below find information taken from Wikipedia: The Shooting Gallery was a rifle light gun and is regarded as the first commercial light gun ever created for any video game console . It was originally created by Ralph Baer , the inventor of the Magnavox Odyssey , in 1968 as part of a prototype gaming unit. The prototype light gun was used as an interface for playing multiple choice games.This prototype design was later developed into the Shooting Gallery for the Magnavox Odyssey. The console had a special port built into it for this periferal. The Shooting Gallery allowed playing four additional games. This simple rifle-inspired light gun would only detect light, and not necessarily what particular target, which thus allowed the player to cheat by shooting any light source, e.g. a light bulb. Since no scores were displayed on the TV screen for any Odyssey game, cheating was somewhat irrelevant. A rumor circulated that the Shooting Gallery rifle would only work with a Magnavox TV set. Although wrong, this hurt sales and only 20,000 or so were sold. Games T were four games made that supported the Shooting Gallery, not a small number of titles relative to the extremely limited total number of games available for the console.
