Absolutely gorgeous this 1960's rosary that was in storage which you would call a "new/old merchandise" from the vault of a store that had closed over 40 years ago. This was in the store, & it was to be sold with the store with all the contents inside of the store, & not to be sold separately. Therefore it is now being sold as "new" because it never was used by anyone but it is considered new ~ old merchandise. This is not uncommon for this to happen when in families it is not decided as to how the proceeds are to be set from the total purchase. But alas, everything works out for the best. This rosary is so beautiful and there are definite reasons for this. The rosary is 19 3/4" long, with a drop of 6" and a circumference of 27". The crucifix is stainless steel, or so it appears to be a brushed stainless steel very closely resembling silver. The cross is 1 3/4" by 1" and it has the raised Corpus, & slightly raised INRI. The center medal is the Sacred Heart of Jesus, & the Blessed Virgin Mary. This was also made with the "rhodium" finish on the chain, & everything that is attached to the rosary because it keeps the rosary from getting tarnished like silver does. It is a lifesaver as the pain & misery of trying to clean sterling silver or solid silver had to be very time consuming, and not efficient but actually a burdensome practice that took hours to do. So the rhodium was very expensive at that time & only certain items or other ways by which the seller decided to produce the rosaries with the rhodium finish, & they looked just like they did when they were made in the 1960's. Very beautiful & very hard to tell that it actually came from that era. The reason why the practice was not done on everything at the time, and only certain items is because the price on rhodium was exorbitant & not cost effective to do a lot of different items with the finish that was a breakthrough for the scientists at that time. The rosary is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks to this little item known as "rhodium finish" which is covered by the art of preserving items with it's blazing & pretentious ways of the science at that time, this rosary is flawless. You can see for yourself when you purchase it. I have priced each rosary that is finished like this with a special price that you will be delighted with it. Then they will be made absolutely without any kind of damage that would or could have been taken from other rosaries that were not coated with the rhodium finish. This is a great monumental moment that is followed by the means that led to the world being introduced to rhodium. The case is like a grey felt like fabric, very close & short so to be a smooth & awesome fit for the case that makes it look worth a lot more then you or I could have made this be. The case also has a satin lining inside and it measures 3 1/2" by 2 3/4" by 1" deep. The price inside says $67.50 which was the going price at that time. It also has a price on the bottom of the case, which can be removed on both places. Just think of the price at that time that was $67.50 would be about $97.50 in todays money by the same token. Just to give you an example as to the price that it would have sold for if it were still for sale in the store. Good Luck to you!
