Appears to be for gold dust being the brass pans are deep and not flat. Eact brass pan marked with the maker, W. T. Avery, Birmingham , England. Ca. 1850's.No defects, no odors., box measures about 4 1/2 x 7 1/2",. the lid has no hinges, but has wire as a hingeThe box is original, has red velvet on inside bottom for the scales to lie on., a very fine boxed scales with two weights.NOTE: We will gladly combine your winning items into one shipment to save you postage costsI pack up the winni ng orders quickly as I can, we have a packing room all set up for me., I am a bit disabled from military service., some days are good, some days are not so good.
