Chancery Lane Antiques presents a unique antique boxed set of engraved, beaded fish eaters for twelve. They are in their original box. The fish eaters were made in Birmingham, England between 1869 and 1873. They are made by "J.G." an unidentified maker who worked from 1867 through 1872-73 in sterling silver. Each of the 12 sets consists of a conforming fish fork with four tines and a fish knife with a curved edge. Both the fork and knife are decoratively embellished with fish and scrolls that resemble waves. The handles are decorated with beading around the outer edges. The knife measures approximately 8.69 inches in length. The fork measures approximately 7.31 inches in length. The combined weight of the knife and fork is .238 pounds or 3.465 troy ounces. The fish eaters each have these marks: anchor, lion passant, Victoria, and J.G. They were produced during a span of years. The date marks are "U":1869-70, "V":1870-71, "W":1871-72, and "X":1872-73. An exquisite offering by Chancery Lane Antiques. $1210.00.
