Vintage porcelain snuff bottle I'm sure that was made by Schafer & Vater on special order depicting a Negro boxer that I'm quite sure is John Johnson wearing boxing tights and gloves and standing in a boxing stance, the bottle has it's original stopper which is made of metal and is in the form of a crown, if my information is correct Mr.Johnson was the first black fighter to win the heavyweight crown in 1908, the bottle is in perfect condition and I'm assuming is quite a rare piece of boxing memorabilia, it measures about 2 1/2in. high by about 1 1/4in. across with great detail, there are no marks on the piece but as I mentioned it looks like something Schafer would have made, if you collect early boxing items or Schafer & Vater nippers this will fit right in your collection and I'm quite sure you won't see another one right away especially with the original crown stopper, it is guaranteed old.If you have any questions you can e.mail me direct at ( ) You are also welcome to pick up your purchase at my home in Az. by appointment.
