BOY COMMANDOS #2 spring 1943, four stories by Joe Simon & Jack Kirby, plus Liberty Belle's second story by Cameron and Winter. This comic book is coverless and missing the centerfold. However, I have made very nice color xerox copies of the missing cover and pages from the copy of Boy Commandos #2 that I have in my collection. Boy Commandos is my long-time nomination for the best series done by Simon & Kirby during World War II. I like it better than Newsboy Legion or Sandman, or even their work on Captain America. It is well written and drawn, timely, gripping story telling, and I would love to see a couple of Archive editions of the S & K Boy Commandos stories from Detective Comics, Worlds Finest, and Boy Commandos comics. This is some of the best stuff DC published at the time, and though I am generally more interested in DC's super hero comics, Boy Commandos is better than most of the hero stuff. This is strictly a reading copy. Not only is it coverless, but, as noted above, the centerfold is missing. The rest of the pages are basically sound and in good condition, though it appears to have gotten damp at some time and t is some fairly minor bleeding of ink, but overall the colors are bright and clear as you can see in the scans. I have, with the color xeroxes mentioned above, assembled a nice, complete, and relatively inexpensive reading copy. The cover is more complete than my original (which is missing a chunk of the right edge, the "faded" part in the cover scan) because I had color copy of the cover of another copy of the comic. The cover has plenty of gloss, but what do you expect from a fresh color xerox? Feels nice in the hand, looks nice to the eye, and nicer than my all original collection ccpy, and because of the xeroxes, it's all and you can read everything in the comic. But it is a reading copy. If you are on a budget, it could also be a nice long term space filler. In addition to the cover, t is a scan of page 1. Although Boy Commandos #2 is a lot less expensive than #1, if you have been looking for it, you know it is also much more difficult to find. A Good copy of Boy Commandos #2 guides for $212. Starting bid/Reserve on this copy is $79.99. That means if you put in the minimum bid and no one else bids, you have won it. I also have copies of #1 and #5 in my store for $149 and $45 respectively and they have 8 more great S&K Boy Commandos stories, plus the origin/first story of Liberty Belle. #1 is coverless and missing pages, but like this #2, is completed with color xeroxes. #5 is all original and complete but damaged.
