These 2 framed documents are were presented to John Tilden, apparently a professional scout executive in the early years of Boy S couts. The largest , dated 1923, is approximately 17.75" tall x 1 4.5" wide in the frame (comes with glass). There is a piece of green tape on the glass of each award...you can peel it off if you w ant. The second document measures approximately 17.75" tall x 10.25" wide in the frame (comes with glass also). This one does not have a date on it, but I would guess it to be close to the same year. These awards exhibit be autifu l calligraphy of the period and are signed by many prominent volunteers of that time. This auction includes both of these documents. There is a 3rd award document, but comes from Minneapolis area Scouts. Mr. T ilden, like most Scout Executives , held leadership in more than one council. These documents are pieces of early history for Boy Scouting not only in these Councils, but on a larger dimension as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message. The lens on my camera dis torts the straight lines of the frame and makes it looked cur ved. The frames are in great condition and are not warpe d in any way.
