We are using the EBay shipping calculator on our listings. We DO combine shipments and ONLY charge the exact shipping cost. If more shipping money is needed, we pay it. What is being offered now is the Boyd Glass Debbie Duck and 3 Baby Ducklings in the color in the color Snow that was slagged with a reddish pink color glass. You can see that I circled one of the ducklings that has some press over at the beak. Being a slag glass there is quite a variation in the coloring of each piece. You get all 4 pieces. There were only 3 or 4 of the Ducks and Ducklings Sets made with this color combination and they were not sold to the dealers or given to the public. Mrs. Boyd would keep them, or they would be put on display in the showroom, or the employees would get them. This was made back when Bernard Boyd Senior liked to try out new color combinations in the glass. He would take a few chunks of a color of glass that was different from the color already melted in the tank. He would throw a few of the chunks into the molten glass. As those chunks would melt the gatherer would twist his punty rod into the glass and gather some out and put it in the mould. No two pieces ever looked the same. Snow was color number 4 in the series of colors run in these moulds and was made on 1/27/1982. We are listing quite a bit of Boyd Glass this week and do combine shipments to save you shipping money so make sure to see it all! And the Boyd's never repeated a color in any mould so that makes Boyd Glass highly collectible. The Boyd Factory and showroom are now closed and the Boyd's have removed the Boyd Diamond B logo from all of their moulds. They also sold all of the moulds to another glass maker in the USA. Since they took the logo off of the moulds, and the Boyd Diamond B logo is trademarked, that means no more Boyd Glass items can ever be made which makes Boyd Glass even more highly collectible. The Debbie measures about 2 3/4 inches high, the duckling measures about 1 3/8 inches high, and both are marked with the Diamond B of Boyd Glass. This beautiful set of glass has no cracks or chips, the shiny places are reflected lighting. The beaks may have rough spots or crizzles on the ends. That is where the 2 halves of the mould came together and it sometimes created a slight edge on the beaks and this sometimes created the rough spots or crizzles. Crizzles look like surface cracking but the pieces are not cracked all the way through. I worked at Boyd Crystal Art Glass in Cambridge for a number of years. I was employed there from about 1979 to 1987. For those of you that came to the Boyd Glass factory in that time period, I was the tall, thin, mustache faced, 20-something year old that worked in the factory. If you took the "tour", I was probably the employee that explained the glass process to you while you watched us work. The time I spent at Boyd Glass is a memorable time in my life that I will not forget. I told my wife that the glass I purchased while employed at Boyd's and since then would be sold to help pay for our two daughters college educations and even though they have both graduated, we will be paying off the debt for some time to come and my wife is making sure that I keep to my plan.
