Bradbury Anderson Bettanny LAVENDER CHILD PITCHER JUG Featured today is this superb lavender Bradsbury Anderson Bettany pitcher / jug. Just acquired from an estate sale & needs a new home. Moulded image done relief style in white ~ smear style salt glaze (similiar to glaze done by Alcock) done in lavender and white. This particular pitcher features a cherub like child on each side. The front has a child standing grasping the grapes around him (in purple raised salt glaze). Covering this pitcher is a raised grape, grape vines & leaves pattern design all round the cherub like child on the front & back. The handle is lavender with grape cluster accents to top & bottom & has a natural organic style. The child on the back is sitting – getting ready to pick a grape from the cluster hanging near…..this is the side that has more discoloration / staining (see pics & condition). I was under the impression that this piece was Alcock - a Ebayer mith much more knowledge than myself informed me that the mark shown is of Bradbury, Anderson & Bettanny. This is an early beauty & would be a great display piece to highlight in your home. MADE BY ~ Bradbury, Anderson, Bettanny MADE IN ENGLAND MARKED ON BOTTOM – Coat of Arms mark, PATENT ~ BA & B (in script hard to read on bottom) SEE PnICS Piece dates sometime in the 18th century - making of this glaze was discontinued for it was found that its production was hazardous. SIZE – This pitcher measures 8” tall, 7.25” from spout to handle, 3.5” rim diameter across, base diameter of 3.25, & pitcher is 6” @ its widest Approx. CONDITION - No chips, no cracks, NO REPAIRS – some staining and discoloration (most on inside – some on one side of pitcher (standing child side), much more than other (sitting child side). I did NOT try to lighten or remove this discoloration marks on pitcher – I will leave that up to the new owner & have NO IDEA whether they can be removed or not.
